Really liked it here! I will say I like la serre more but it's a cute spot to hit up with your girls and it's great food! Steak frites perfectly cooked, loved the tuna tartare and who can say no to a bougie chicken nugget. Service is great and they make it a fun experience! Definitely returning!

TLDR: you come here bc it's cute not bc of the food. Food is good not remarkable. Came here for brunch and was pleasantly surprised! It's a small French inspired menu and everything we ordered (French omelette, mushroom scramble, French toast) was tasty and well portioned. Super beautiful indoor/outdoor bar area with a floral ceiling and excellent lighting for photos. I can't say the food was anything I would really go out of my way for, but if you're in the area and need somewhere aesthetic to go where the food isn't suffering then this is the spot. Timing of the food was a little off imo, our two egg entrees came out together and then the French toast way after that so I think they still have some growing pains to work out. Overall a good time!

I was very skeptical about Bar La Rue when I first heard about it as I was hearing early growing pains about bad service and mediocre food from different neighborhood groups online. Im like ok, lemme wait for them to figure it out. Also I usually think French themed places can be overrated so I figured I would keep my expectations low. Came by for the first time last summer during Fridays on Fulton and me and my homies grabbed a seat neat the bar and had a very delicious bold fashioned in which the make the drink smoke when they first hand it over to you...its very good! We then had the French Kiss which is an herbal mezcal drink that is pretty good. Raspberry Beret was decent as well...small batch whiskey cocktail that includes chamomile. Our server...I believe her name was Alondra hooked us up with a complimentary chocolate hazelnut crepe that was very good. I didnt see what others saw...drinks, snack and service was great! I've been back numerous times since the initial visit and every time its been awesome! I ususally grab a bar seat as I just stop in when passing by as I truly like the joint. Brunch, dinner and their happy hour are good times to come. HH includes $9 glasses of wine or classic martini, $2 oysters and $10 bottomless frites. Brunch is good as I've had the Lobster Omelet which is very outstanding...a good amount of lobster in there as well. The have a really good smash burger known as the Royale with Cheese of course. They have one of the best french onion soups I've had in awhile. Service is always good as Ramon, Bobby, Teny, Abby and the amazing Christina are always good people at the bar. Decor is cool with the floral thing happening on the ceilings...good looking restaurant. I like Bar LaRue and plan on making many more visits. Everyone always looks happy here.

Come here for HH! It's from 4-6 M-F and the deals are pretty solid. $2 oysters, $9 drinks, and $10 bottomless frites! Our server was the sweetest server ever - she was so kind and really let us enjoy the bottomless portion of the fries! Beautiful space and it's definitely lively! Since we went relatively early, we saw the space get more packed. Oysters were not the best oysters, but for $2 a piece I'm not complaining! The move: go here for HH then bop around other places down Fulton!

Bar La Rue was such a great spot--cozy, stylish, & just the right amount of lively. The service was amazing, & our waitress knew the menu inside & out, which made ordering so much easier. The tots were next-level crispy & so flavorful. The roasted chicken was juicy af, with the most perfect mashed potatoes underneath soaking up all the goodness. The burger Provençal style? A must. So cheesy, so good. & dessert was unreal--light, chocolatey, & the perfect way to end the meal. Definitely coming back.

Bar La Rue is a cute spot with their flowers on the ceiling but also have TV's if people want a drink and watch a game. Our waiter was very nice and even made sure to give me a birthday dessert! My friends and I enjoyed our meal as it was very delicious! We started off with a dozen east coast oysters ($48), crispy tater tot's ($12), and escargots ($17). The oysters were very good and I felt like they went by quickly, sharing with three people. The crispy taters were very crispy which I appreciate. It was definitely next level in how there wasn't too much plain potato to the crispy part. The escargots were a must try if you get them too often. I wish there was more bread for the butter and oil in the dish. For the entrees, I got the Royale with cheese ($18) and added bacon ($8) and made it Provence style ($5). The add ons were worth it! I thought I ate my burger slowly savoring each taste with the cheese, but my friend was shocked at how fast I finished my meal. The bacon was not just strips of bacon fortunately. It was more of a piece similar to pork belly. The melted cheese Provence style is a must try which is what I came for. My friends all enjoyed their dishes as well so I would say go for getting the Steak Frites 7 oz ($54) and the half roasted chicken ($39). The side order of fries ($8) were some great crispy fries with garlic aioli. Can't complain with that combo. Overall, Bar La Rue is definitely a spot to try. The restaurant is cute and the food is delicious! The staff are all very nice and attentive as well.

Two of us stopped in on Saturday afternoon while spending time in the West Loop. The aesthetics of this restaurant has caught my eye from the sidewalk over the last few months. It is truly one of the most social media worthy places in the area. I tried three food items: Crispy Tater Tots (10/10) Not your average tater tots at all. One order comes with 4 large sticks and the flavor leaves an impression. I highly suggest ordering these. Pan Seared Sea Bass (7/10) The flavor profile was good, but not super memorable. It wouldn't be a repeat order for me, but also not a bad option if you are craving fish. Tuna Tartare (9/10) The tuna tasted fresh and this was a good light appetizer I didn't personally try the royale with cheese, but my dining partner enjoyed it and said it was really good. While you can have a whole meal here, it really sticks out to me as being a fun place for apps and drinks.
